His father joined the Party in1930and died inhis fifties.
in1930表示“在1930年”，in his fifties表示“在他五十多岁时”。这两个词组都是固定搭配。
Inthe 1870s, when Marx was alreadyin his fifties, he found itwas important to study the situation in Russia, so he began to learn Russian.
在英语中，表示“在多少世纪多少年代”，用“in+the+年份s”;表示“在某人几十岁时”应用“inone's +整十的复数形式”。
基础考点
用基数词表示编号，如电话号码、门牌号、页码等。
用“基数词+单位+形容词”，表示长、宽、高等。
例
：two meters long两米长;five inches wide五英寸宽

表示编号一般用“名词+基数词”或“the+序数词+名词”。

第九课有两种表达方式：①名词lesson在前，用名词+基数词，即Lesson Nine，开头字母大写;②名词lesson在后，用the+序数词+名词，即the ninthlesson.

基础考点7
分数由基数词和序数词组合构成，分数的分子由基数词表示，分母由序数词表示。
(1)小于1的分数，分子大于1，分母的序数词要用复数形式。
例
：三分之一one third;三分之二 two thirds;五分之四 four fifths
(2)大于1的分数，整数部分用基数序表示。
例
：三又四分之一three andone fourth;一又二分之一one anda half

用法
2.分数的。
(1)当分数后面接名词时，若分数值>1，则后面的名词用作复数;若分数值≤1，后面跟的可数名词要用单数。
(2)分数所修饰的名词在句中作主语时，后面搭配的谓语动词与名词保持一致。
例
：Two thirds ofstudentsaregoing to the park tomorrow. 三分之二的学生明天要去公园。

此处quarter是四分之一的意思。

表达方法
1. 小数的。
小数由基数词加小数点构成，以小数点为界，小数点左边的数字为一个单位，表示整数，数字合起来读;小数点右边的数字为一个单位，表示小数，数字分开读;小数点读作point，0读作zero或o;整数部分为零时，可以省略不读。
例：
11.24读作eleven point two four;0.5读作zero pointfive/point five;28.23读作 twenty-eight point two three
用法
2. 小数的。
小数数值大于1时，后面的可数名词用复数形式;小于1时，可数名词用单数形式。
例
：1.5meters一点五米;0.9 foot零点九英尺
表达方法
3.百分数的。
百分数用“基数词+percent”表示，数字部分念作基数词，百分号%念作percent，且percent不用复数形式。
例
：100%读作one hundred percent;0.4%读作zero point four percent
用法
4.百分数的。
percentof ...作主语时，若其后的名词为单数或不可数名词，谓语动词用单数形式;若名词为复数，谓语动词则用复数形式。
例
：About 80 percent of students in our classlikereading.我们班大约百分之八十的学生喜欢读书。
Nearlytwenty-one percent of airisoxygen.差不多百分之二十一的空气是氧气。
练习
1.Onlyfive percent ofthe students exercisefor more than halfan hour every day.
百分比的表示方法是在percent前面加上数字，percent不能用复数;百分比表示在一定范围内的数量，故后面应用of.
