同一个句子，作者可用两个「语态」表示—主动及被动。
主动语态强调动作的主事者，以下为例：
Wind disperses plant seeds.
Smith et al. investigated the relationship.
The method analyzed the results.
主动语态为直接的(主词–动词–受词)、果断的、清楚而简明的。读者可以清楚的知道「谁」执行了这个动作。
