　　定冠词the，特指某人或某物

　　（1）+名词

　　Please would you pass the salt.。【已知的/特定的物或人】

　　请你把盐递给我

　　We spent all day at the beach.【某一类地方/场所】

　　我们在海滩上呆了一整天。

　　The panda is becoming an increasingly rare animal.【某类物或人】

　　熊猫这种动物数量越来越稀少了。

　　I really enjoyed the book I've just finished reading.【带有后置定语的名词前】

　　我真的很喜欢我刚读完的那本书。

　　特殊情况：People whho drink and drive should go to prison.【零冠词，表泛指】

　　the sun/earth/Eiffel Tower【独一无二的物】

　　He was for many years the mayor of New York.【独一无二的人】

　　他做了多年的纽约市长。

　　The Clintons are coming to visit this Sunday.【某夫妇或一家人】

　　克林顿一家周日要来看我们。

　　I'm going under the knife (= having a medical operation) next week.

　　【与名词有关的活动】

　　我下周要接受外科手术。

　　Mary is learning to play the piano.【乐器或乐团前】

　　玛丽在学弹钢琴。

　　the Coldplay酷玩乐队

　　在表示海洋、河流、湖泊、山脉、群岛、某些国名、组织机构、报纸杂志、比赛会议等名词前

　　1）一般情况

　　the Atlantic大西洋

　　the Yellow River黄河

　　the Rhine莱茵河

　　the Himalayas喜马拉雅山

　　the Cayman Islands开曼群岛

　　the U.S.A美国

　　the United Nations联合国

　　the Guadian卫报

　　the Olympic Games奥运会

　　the Kyoto Protocol京都协定书

　　2）城市名称前一般为零冠词，除了the Hague

　　3）有Mount, Lake等表示孤山、独岛、湖泊等名词前一般为零冠词，中国湖泊却常加定冠词。

　　Mount Everest珠穆朗玛峰

　　Lake Baikal贝加尔湖

　　Mount Halla汉拿山

　　Kagoshima（日本）鹿儿岛

　　Coral Island（泰国）珊瑚岛

　　the Poyang Lake鄱阳湖

　　the Dongting Lake洞庭湖
