　　（用过去进行时显得更加委婉，更加不确定）

　　在叙述故事时，过去进行时表示故事发生的背景情况：

　　It was evening. The sun was setting. Agentle wind was blowing through the trees. In the distance I noticed a Land Rover moving across the dusty plain. It stopped and two men jumped out of it.

　　傍晚，太阳快落山了，清风从树中吹过。我看见远处有一辆越野车在尘土飞扬原野上行驶。车停了，两个人从车上跳下来。
